STARK COUNTY SCHOOLS MENTAL HEALTH 2023

ABOUT

Stark County Schools Mental Health Week brings together 19 high schools from 18 Stark County School Districts to incorporate a full week of positive mental health messaging for elementary, middle and high school students in each district.

Stark County Schools Mental Health Week is brought to you by AultCare, Stark County Mental Health Addiction and Recovery (StarkMHAR), State Farm agent Michael Dougan, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, CommQuest Services and Pathway Caring for Children.

The week incorporates age appropriate messages at each level, from posters to be hung in schools, morning announcements and positive JPEG images for middle and high school students.

This year, 33 high school students from 19 area high schools volunteered to be Student Mental Health Champions. These student champions created a unity video and 33 self-care video tips to share with their peers on C&A's social media platform and share with their school districts. Hearing a message from a peer who is facing similar circumstances and struggles is a powerful message. The singular unifying message to all Stark County students is pause.

The Ohio State University Head Football Coach Ryan Day tapes a message for students. Please click to listen to his inspiring message on the importance of physical and mental health.

POSTERS

Each participating school district receives posters to be placed and hung in their schools buildings.

Positive self-care reminders

Elementary students in participating school districts will receive an erasable bookmark. These bookmarks enable students to write a positive mental health or self-care message and keep in a book the student is reading. Over the course of time, a student can change out the message on the book mark. The message on the bookmark provides a positive re-enforcement each day.

Middle school students will each receive a positive affirmation sticker from AultCare with a powerful reminder to students - You Matter. For example, students could place the sticker on a water bottle or notebook to visualize the reminder throughout the day.
