COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES INTERNSHIP

Child and Adolescent Behavior Health focuses on meeting the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of children and their families. The staff works closely with those at risk for abuse, neglect, and poor social and emotional health. Through this internship program, interns will be given the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Mental Health Providers to build protective factors in children’s lives, while also increasing the competencies and skills of parents and childhood educators and providers.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide child-specific interventions under the guidance of a licensed provider.
  • Provide supportive interventions with children within the home, school and community environments such as social-emotional coaching.
  • Design and create agency resiliency bulletin boards.
  • Learn necessary record keeping of service delivery, outcomes, service logs, and time sheets.
  • Attend collaborative team meetings to create positive change within the community.
  • Participate in internship/professional supervision, quality care meetings, and other training activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Individuals actively seeking secondary education in social work, psychology, sociology, early childhood education, child and family studies, and human relations.
  • Previous experience or interest in working with children, their families, and other professionals.
  • Be able to perform assigned tasks while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have strong communication skills with both children and adults, enjoy helping others, be organized, energetic, innovative, and enthusiastic, and maintain a strength-based, family-oriented advocacy role.


Requirements:

  • Resume summarizing education and employment experiences.
  • Complete an in-person interview
  • Three letters of reference, with at least one reference submitted by college affiliate with knowledge of applicant’s academic performance, commitment to major and enrollment in internship program.
  • Completed agency required application, finger printing and background checks.
  • Upon approval/acceptance, complete a one week orientation as scheduled by agency.
