C&A collaborates with several of Stark County’s universities and colleges to combat the stigma associated with mental health. The initiative focuses on promoting positive mental health, suicide prevention and awareness, as well as raising awareness about the counseling centers available on each campus and local and national resources. The programs are tailored to engage students aged 18 to 24.
C&A is collaborating with colleges and universities in Stark County to enhance positive mental health strategies and coping skills for students across the county.
On each participating campus, C&A will spend one day this fall, partnering with other agencies such as Coleman Crisis Center, C&A’s Youth Led Prevention, Stark Help Central, NAMI and Light After Loss. C&A will provide activities, self-care kits, suicide awareness information, and a make-and-take activity. StarkMHAR will provide brochures and information from Stark Help Central, Coleman Services will share details about their mobile crisis team, NAMI will discuss young adult services, and Light After Loss will talk about their support services. Additionally, C&A will offer two presentations for students in the upcoming spring semester, with topics including a wellness panel discussion and a presentation on seasonal affective disorder.
Mental health is just as important as academic success. That's why we encourage attendees to take a moment to listen to our mental health PSAs. These powerful messages are designed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide valuable resources for students navigating the challenges of college life. Your well-being matters, and by engaging with these PSAs, you’re taking a proactive step towards a healthier, more balanced college experience. Let's work together to create a supportive and understanding campus community. PSAs were created by students involved in WRMU at the University of Mount Union.
